Topic: Quantum Annealing vs. Quantum Computing
Patrick T. Gemperline, Ph.D., is a Quantum Computing Engineer at Davidson Technologies, specializing in advanced modeling, simulation, and optimization for defense applications. He earned his doctorate in Materials Physics from Auburn University, where his research focused on integrating machine learning into thin film synthesis and data analysis to improve the speed of complex materials research. His current work focuses on developing and deploying hybrid quantum-classical algorithms to solve high-impact optimization and decision-support challenges across the defense mission space.
